  • Modelización de la calidad del aire. Aplicación de algoritmos para la estimación de los niveles de exposición de contaminantes atmosféricos en emplazamientos no medidos (implementación de técnicas de “machine learning”).
  • Desarrollo de técnicas analíticas optimizadas y nuevos enfoques integrados. Contaminantes emergentes.
  • Tratamiento de datos. Aplicación de técnicas quimiométricas. Análisis de distribución espacial, de tendencias, elaboración de mapas de riesgo, etc.
  • Metrología aplicada a la calidad del aire. Puesta a punto y validación de técnicas analíticas. 
  • Optimización del diseño de redes de calidad el aire. Idoneidad de emplazamientos de medida acorde al marco legislativo.
  • Exposición y evaluación de riesgo ambiental. Desarrollo de metodologías “green chemistry” para el análisis de contaminantes emergentes. Puesta a punto de ensayos toxicológicos acelulares.
  • Microbiología del aire. Toma de muestra de bioaerosoles en aire ambiente/aire de interiores. Estudio de la correlación ambiente–evolución de enfermedad. Evaluación de la presencia/ausencia de genes de resistencia en el aire.
  • Impacto sobre la salud respiratoria de la exposición a contaminantes atmosféricos asociados a erupciones volcánicas (mixta con la Unidad de Evaluación Riesgos del CNSA).
  • Aire de interiores. Investigación de contaminantes gaseosos y particulados en edificios, que puedan suponer un riesgo para la salud de sus ocupantes.
  • Evaluación de precursores de ozono en aire ambiente.

El grupo de investigación “Calidad del aire ambiente y de interiores. Implicaciones en salud” tiene como objetivo estudiar la presencia y niveles de contaminantes atmosféricos en diferentes ambientes, y su relación con la salud humana de distintos grupos de población. Dicho objetivo es abordado desde un enfoque multidisciplinar, como puede verse en las líneas de investigación que venimos desarrollando como grupo.

Para cumplir nuestros compromisos investigadores, el grupo dispone de una amplia gama de instrumentos de captación, medida y análisis de contaminantes aéreos (captadores activos y pasivos, analizadores automáticos, cromatografía iónica, AAS, GC-MS, ICP-MS, analizador OC/EC). De igual manera, al estar integrados en el Laboratorio Nacional de Referencia de Calidad del Aire, contamos con una infraestructura de investigación adecuada a la consecución de nuestros objetivos investigadores y de servicio (sala climatizada de gravimetría, laboratorio de intercomparación de gases, unidades móviles). Trabajamos bajo un sistema de calidad conforme a la Norma UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 (acreditación ENAC 223/LE460).
